Gran Turismo 7 update 1.69 available today, first details of the 2026 Gran Turismo World Series

In this month’s free update, the Polyphony team dropped the Yangwang U9 with a 1,286 BHP ’24 (0-100.1 mph in 2.36 seconds). They also introduced the practical ’93 Renault Twingo (1.2L inline-4 OHV engine). Additionally, the Leichtbau 964, a blend of classic 911 styling and air-cooled toughness, is also included. It is considered one of Porsche’s greatest hits, with only 86 produced, making it one of the rarest of this generation.

The update also includes new menus, three new World Circuit events, curation of III camera up and down motion (altitude adjustment) in Scapes, and a Power Pack update in Update 1.69, which will be available starting today at 23:00 PT / April 23 at 7:00 BST / 15:00 JST*.

Lightweight construction Porsche 911 Turbo S (964) ’93

Introduced in 1989, the Type 964 marked the third generation of the Porsche 911, after the 901 and 930. Despite its familiar silhouette, the car represented a major step forward, with around 80% of its components newly engineered and a more aerodynamic and modern exterior.

Power comes from a newly enlarged 3.6-liter flat-six engine, while the Carrera 4 debuts Porsche’s first full-time all-wheel drive system. Rear-wheel drive models expand accessibility with the introduction of the Tiptronic automatic.

For maximum performance, Porsche offers the Turbo and the extremely rare 1992 911 Turbo S. With upgraded cams, special turbines, lightweight body panels, and 375.7 BHP, only 86 examples were ever produced—cementing its place among the rarest 911s.

Renault Twingo ’93

Practical yet cute. A breath of fresh air for the A segment.

When Renault replaced the Super 5 with the larger Clio in 1990, it left a gap at the bottom of its range. The answer arrived in 1992 as the Twingo—an A-segment hatchback that challenged convention. Its distinctive three-door monospace shape features a single line flowing from nose to tail, which immediately sets it apart from its peers.

With the wheels pushed to the corners, the compact Twingo delivers excellent interior space despite its modest footprint. Power came from a transversely mounted 1.2-liter inline-four, simple but suited to the car’s light weight and urban missions. Smart features like a sliding rear seat add to the versatility, proving practicality and personality can coexist. In production for 14 years, the first generation Twingo remains one of the most innovative small cars ever made.

Yangwang U9 ’24

The Yangwang U9 challenges conventional supercar thinking by placing an electric motor on each wheel. Developed by Yangwang, BYD’s luxury performance brand, it uses its e⁴ platform, producing a whopping 960 kW (1,286 BHP). Despite its size and weight, the U9 goes from 0–62 mph in just 2.36 seconds.

Power Pack / Power Pack Challenge

Power Pack challenges will be added. In this mode players can receive various prizes according to the number of races completed in a certain time period. Rewards will be updated weekly, and progress can be checked from the World Map screen or the dialog at the top right of the Event Selection screen.

2026 Gran Turismo World Series

Online Qualifying is complete, the 2026 Gran Turismo World Series driver line-up has been determined, and now it’s time for an action-packed live broadcast. First up is Milan on Saturday, May 23 at the historic Teatro Lirico, close to the city’s famous Duomo, and tickets are selling fast. The action at Teatro Lirico will kick off at 5:00pm local time with the Manufacturer’s Cup before the Nations Cup racers take the stage at 7:30pm PT.

Complete Calendar 2026

The 2026 calendar will feature Round 2 taking place at Polyphony Digital Inc.’s studios. in Tokyo and is scheduled to broadcast on August 15.

Round 3 sees the Gran Turismo World Series land in Singapore on Saturday 3 October.

The championship decider, the World Finals, will return to Tokyo at the new Shibuya Lovez location on December 5 and 6.
