From the start, Directive 8020 was built around the cinematic story, player choices, and atmosphere you can experience on the deadly mission to Tau Ceti f. Hunted by an alien organism capable of imitating its prey, the Cassiopeia crew must outwit their pursuers in order to make it home alive.
Sharper visuals supported by PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution
One of the most obvious improvements comes from PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), Sony’s AI-based upscaling technology.
PSSR intelligently increases image detail and clarity frame by frame, allowing environments, character models, and subtle environmental storytelling to appear sharp and well-defined. Cassiopeia’s metallic corridors, the frost that forms in a frozen medical laboratory, the distortions in reflective visors, all of these details benefit from added sharpness.

Directive 8020 is at its core a cinematic narrative experience. With the additional rendering power available, we can render scenes with enhanced visual fidelity that supports the emotional weight of each moment.
Character appearances, smooth facial animations, and environmental details all contribute to an immersive experience. When you’re trying to decide who to believe, especially when two identical faces are staring back at you, visual nuances are important.
Confront your fears with advanced ray tracing
Lighting is one of the most powerful tools of horror storytelling.
With advanced ray tracing, light behaves more realistically, bouncing naturally through corridors, reflecting off metal surfaces, and producing shadows that feel grounded in the physical space. Emergency strobe lights flashed on the bulkhead. The firelight flashes dynamically on the character’s face. The ice refracts the light in such a way that it feels cold and unforgiving.
Realistic lighting increases the tension in each corridor. You’re never sure what’s hidden behind that light.
Dynamic shadows reveal and hide threats
Foreshadowing is not just a visual decoration in Directive 8020. It is part of the language of fear.
Dynamic shadow details add depth and movement to scenes, making environments feel less static and unpredictable. The moving silhouette might be nothing… or there might be an alien hunter watching.
The added richness in the shadow rendering enhances the atmosphere in a subtle yet powerful way, reinforcing the unease that permeates the entire experience.
Smooth performance where every decision matters
Performance isn’t just about numbers on a spec sheet, it’s also about emotional timing.
Directive 8020 is based on split-second decisions that permanently shape your story. When Anders is out cold in a failed medical lab and Mitchel is trapped in hell elsewhere on the ship, you don’t have time to consider forever. Your instincts take over.

Smooth, consistent performance ensures the moment happens exactly as expected. Input feels immediate. Camera movements remain smooth. Cinematic transitions have their impact. The tension builds naturally, with no technical friction to pull you out of it.

Designed with the PlayStation 5 in mind
In addition to visual improvements, Directive 8020 is designed to take full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s features, especially the DualSense controller. Especially because of Until Dawn’s supermassive legacy in that tense “Don’t Move” moment on the PlayStation 3.
We want interactions to feel instinctive in Directive 8020:
- You will instinctively reach for your flashlight in a pitch black corridor.
- You will scan the room before entering the hatch.
- You’ll grab the slicing tool at the last second.
All without taking your eyes off the danger around you.
Haptic feedback puts fear in your hands during selection and while using tools. The DualSense’s audio output sounds as a way for distant characters to communicate with you from across the vast ship via messenger devices.
Our goal is simple: make the controller your tool for survival and fully immerse you in the world, to keep you cool.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
