This weekend Bungie revealed the Sci-Fi Marathon gameplay to the world. Turi Team: Congratulations on the big gameplay expressed! How do you feel and the team participating in the event?

Joe Ziegler: This is quite interesting. The term that I have used a lot is “nerve.” This is the work of love that we have done for several years now, and that must have come with the desires we have poured into it, repeatedly with our audience, and the desire to produce something extraordinary to be played and seen.

Having it touching the hands of real players for the first time is very thrilling, because we do this to excite and entertain them in an extraordinary way, but also tense. You know, you question a lot of decisions you make. You really hope that all the things you think about are really what the players care about. And we feel like we are there, but we are very happy to see what players say.

During the development of marathons, are there any specific moments or experiences that make the Bungie team realize that to something special?

So many of them are this unexpected time. When you think that one thing you think will happen, but another thing happens. In our game, you travel to this mysterious world where danger can lurk in every corner. Sometimes you turn and face face with the United Earth Space Council (UESC), a truly brutal and dangerous opponent in our game. Or sometimes you only cross maps and bullets are shot from other crews who have seen you. And some moments are very exciting, because you don’t think you will succeed, and you turn the table, or you can hardly, and you find a way out to the exfil. When you come out, you just tremble with extraordinary intensity that you will remember for a long time.

What is the background behind the name “Marathon?”

In the original game (1994), “Marathon” is the name of the colony ship sent from Earth by UESC. They send it through the reach of our solar system to build the first colony to a system called Tau Ceti. And so too Eusc Marathon Is a kind of strange ship built on the moon like an asteroid, and then sent to travel long. … If you make me guess, I assume that “Marathon” refers to the fact that it is a 500 -year trip, and is the right name for a very long, very long trip commitment.

We use the name marathon [for this new 2025 game] Because of IP legacy. We take many elements of the familiar IP, Eusc Marathon Ships too, and make it bright in modern times. We interpret many things again, but there are many familiar elements too, such as ships and know ceti, which I think fans from the past will really enjoy seeing.

Bungie is famous for the perfect shooting game. How do you become honest with the inheritance while making the FPS Marathon actions feel like herself?

Many of them come from the nature of the game and the type of decision you want to make players and how you want them to make that decision. This game is very much about survival. And in the game of survival style, a lot of pressure on you to manage resources, adaptive, and be aware of the situation. What we do with our shooting game and our system is that we take a lot of truly acts of action that are enjoyed by players, and we add an intense survival layer above. For example, you do not regenerate health automatically very quickly, but you have consumables that help you heal. Some of that is to create a moment where you make the decision to go to war or backwards. You have to think about the resources you carry.

Do you have a message for every player who is curious about extraction shooters, but a little nervous or intimidated by risks/gifts?

I will definitely say that this game is challenging and intense, but very useful. When you learn it, you will feel yourself developing survival skills that you may have never experienced before, which starts to make you feel expert. We have also designed this game to feel very natural in the controller too. There are many PC extraction shooters where the mouse and keyboard are a little more common, and in designing what we are trying to do is get the FinicKoeless interface and gameplay so you can play it naturally. We want you to focus on adapting and studying the survival skills to make an impressive trip.

Obviously players risked their valuable loading in the given match. Can you tell us about continuous developmental elements?

We want to make sure the players feel like they get something for the time they spend in every game. Some of them will be based on experience. For example, leveling your runner level in a certain season. Some of them will be related to the improvement provided by factions. When you collect material or get a currency, you will be able to increase some of your overall character statistics. So you might get a little more stamina, or you might be able to loot a little faster box. Some of them will also increase the options that you have to buy from item shop in a game called Black Market. You can use the currency that you collect in the game to buy weapons, implants, and different improvements based on what you open in the tree improvement. So when you play the game, you will see many choices you grow.

What is the way Bungie takes advantage of PlayStation 5 technology for Marathons?

We must have haptic support for [DualSense wireless controllers]which is quite fun when you enter some of the shootout and you feel feedback on your fingertips. We also support the 3D Tempest Audio Machine, so you will hear a lot of in -depth audio.

In addition, many rendering technology on PS5, and especially in PS5 Pro, is really extraordinary. So we plan some of the extraordinary uses of PSSR (Playstation Spectation Spectation Spectation Spectral Super Resolution), and some additional support in improving and resolution. So, if you have a PS5 or PS5 Pro, you will be surprised by the way we provide a console.


Marathon developer interview: Bungie shared more about the actions of the extract FPS

Marathon art style is not like anything else out there now. Can you guide us through what makes it so striking and unique?

Our aesthetics are very inspired by graphic design and many modern product design traps. But I think what really distinguishes us is every time I see A [Marathon] Picture, I left, “I think I understand it,” or “I don’t think I … but I really like it.” There is something very interesting about visuals that look very brave and graphics like something you see in print media but also attractive to the screen and mixed with the formation of this technology sci-fi. That, and also contrary to a very organic and contrasting background of all these things really appears.

This is a mixture that I think we have never seen before, and we are really happy with it, because it created all the visual contrast and conflicts that walked together to help the tone of the game, which was truly about Paranoia. This is about intensity. This is about not knowing the truth you know, trying to find it, and continue to be wrapped into a rabbit information hole. You don’t know what is right or wrong. So all things like that gather very well through artstyle too.

Is there anything else you want to make sure the Playstation audience removes from this big disclosure?

If you are a true person -really enjoy the survival experience. If you are a person who really enjoyed testing your courage with other players in the room trying to do the same thing. And if you are a truly player, just want to make a thrilling trip that you never know … I think this will be a game for you. Especially because we have been very focused on making this experience translated across platforms very well. I am very happy to see the Playstation players enter and experience our genres and offers in it. We have poured a lot of passion and love [Marathon]And we have played a lot, and we also play for fun. So we are glad they join our community, show us what is good, and show us how good they are.
